3 Good Reasons to Read Float This Summer

Hello, hello happy readers! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to post about Float this month! It’s one of those books that has really stuck with me ever since I finished it in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. We are going to have so much fun with all the things I have planned to go along with this book and our new monthly middle grade book club.
(By the way, I need your opinions. Which do you like the sound of better, book club or book party?? Give your opinion in the comment section at the bottom of the page)

In case you aren’t already hooked on reading Float just from looking at the cover, and you need a little encouragement, I have put together a list of three good reasons you should definitely read Float this month.

Let’s jump right in!

Float is FULL of Adventure, Camping, Outdoors, and Other Summer Fun!

Float takes place at a summer camp for kids with unique abilities called RISK factors. The setting reminded me a little bit of Camp Halfblood but with a Laura Martin twist that made it irresistible! For me, summer camps and boarding schools always catch my attention when it comes to MG (middle grade) novels. I’m not totally sure why that is.
I love when I find a purely fun story that takes place in the outdoors. I love reading, and writing, about wilderness adventures and misadventures. Float is absolutely a new favorite! If you need a book to take camping, or just to remind you of camping, Laura Martin has you covered with Float!

RISK Factors

RISK Factors are the unique abilities that each child at Camp O was born with. RISK stands for Reoccurring Incidents of the Strange Kind. Emmerson, the main character in Float has the ability to float. Other RISK factors include a kid who is magnetic, a boy who is sticky, a girl who turns into a cocker spaniel, and a camp counselor whose features and limbs change their appearance every so often, just to name a few. There are countless other funny RISK factors that add tremendous fun to this great story. Just try to imagine a book about kids like this not being entertaining!

Amazing Story & Full of Inspiration

Hidden within the fun of Float are inspiring pieces of life advice that I needed and you probably do too. Laura Martin takes her story crafted of fantasy, summer camp fun, family stories, and mystery and adds layers of life lessons about our unique differences, making the most of life, and going outside our comfort zones.

Float, simply put, is the perfect blend of. . . well, everything.
