In July I’m going to try something new here on my blog. (Kinda a theme on this blog. Every few weeks, it seems that I start out a post with “I’m trying something new.”) July will be my test run for this new idea I have. What’s the idea?
Pretty simple. I will choose a book as my so called “book club choice” for that month and then we will have tons of fun talking about the book here on the blog.
After brainstorming for a total of a few minutes I have a plethora of ideas. Hopefully you will enjoy this month’s book club novel and activities as much as I imagine I will! Check out my posts in July to get your fill of fandom for the middle grade book I’ve chosen.
The book I chose for my July posts to center around is Float by Laura Martin.
Float is about a boy named Emerson who has the ability to float, but he’s not very good at doing so . . . not the greatest combination for a kid scared of heights.
When Emerson goes to a summer camp for kids who all have unique abilities (or RISK factors as they are called in the book), he is pushed far out of his comfort zone. Another boy in Emerson’s cabin has the ability to time travel. Emerson learns of a secrets this new friend is keeping and he suddenly becomes part of a time sensitive issue to save his time traveling friend.
That was a very brief explanation of Float, but if you are interested in learning more you can check it out here and come back on July first for a complete list of why you should read Float.
I have big plans for our July book party (I just realized that it sounds like a lot more fun to have a party than a club)! You can expect art projects, games, food ideas, life lists, and a whole lot of other exciting things for you to enjoy before, during, and after you read Float!
Thanks for joining me, and happy, happy, happy reading!!!
See you next week for our first official Float post!
